Minecraft

I really have not been playing Minecraft as of late, you know it's sad because I used to play it all the time. Anyone have any ideas on possible structures I could build so that I can finally start getting this blog rolling again. I will build it to the best of my abilities on a decent scale. Obviously you can't propose anything impossible or too elaborate that it would take days of work.

In other news I've been mysteriously banned from my online server in Minecraft as well, I don't know why but I am talking to people.

Most of the basics of the game engine is in place, so it’s time to flesh this game out into something more gamey. More content, more exploration, more things to do, and interesting combat! Once this update is out, there will only some tweaks, optimizations and code cleanups left to the core game before we can call it a full release.
We’ve got a list of some 40+ things we want to add to the game, some small, some big. Some huge. We’ve finished a fair number of the items, but there’s still a significant amount of work left. While I can’t reveal the date yet for various reasons, we do have a release date for the Adventure Update in mind, and we’re hoping we’ll be able to hit it.
Jens and I are keeping the exact contents of the update secret, but we do leak some information every now and then to keep people interested and to stop us from going insane. For the most immediate spoilers, you can follow us on Twitter
Here are a few of the things we’ve revealed so far:
  • NPC villages
  • Randomly generated dungeons
  • New biome code
  • Fully working Creative Mode (and individual admins can enter Creative Mode on a Survival Mode server if they choose)
  • Critical hits
  • Sprinting
  • More farming options
As soon as I can reveal the release date we’re aiming for, I will!
Oh, and the modding support is happening, honest.

All I can say is that amazing things are going to be coming into this game. Notch knows what he is doing and this seems  to be fantastic. Not much to blog about today. I'm working on soon to come videos, but thought about sharing this to keep my blog fresh.

Dr. Zhark's Mo' Creatures Mod

http://www.minecraftforum.net/topic/81771-v166-mo-creatures-v2103-with-even-fewer-bunnies/

So out of nowhere I run into this mod for Minecraft. Now at first it felt a bit silly downloading it. But my God this mod is absolutely perfect. This mod adds a significant amount of creatures besides the boring 4 that appear by day and the other 5 that appear by night. This mod combined adds twenty creatures.

I don't really want to say much about the surprises that this mod comes with. But I can guarantee you that this mod will add a new challenge and keep you entertained much, much longer.

So not only does this mod add twenty new creatures, but some of those are bad ones. From Ogres, to werewolves, these baddies will make you hide at night for sure. There are three unique types of ogres each with a special ability that will make you cower in fear. The one thing they do have in common is the ability to destroy blocks in the world of minecraft, you don't want to be facing these bad guys any time soon. There are also werewolves whom will also make you cower in fear... Well at night that is.

But don't worry about that, there are also many passive creatures, or passive-aggressive. You'll be having to deal with simple creatures like bunnies, to more ferocious creatures like bears in day-time.

One of the other unique things this mod has to offer is tamable creatures such as horses, and even dolphins for your aquatic travels. Of course it requires a large amount of resources to do this. but none the less it is a great way to travel, and there are various types of dolphins and horses, some faster than others.

The last thing that I'd like to point out about the mod is that you can choose which creatures to have, or at which difficulty they spawn. This way if you find those ogres to challenging for you, you can always take them out all together.

It really is a great mod, and you should definitively install it.

Minecraft Updated

Well, Notch has finally added another patch, or better yet an expansion to his already amazing game. Down below are the new features added into the world of Minecraft and what I think of them.
1.7:

+ Added pistons
+ Fire or redstone is now required to trigger TNT
+ Fences can be stacked+ Added shears
+ Shears can be used to pick up leaf blocks
+ Shears can be used to shear sheep without hurting them
* Sheep no longer drop wool from being punched
- Removed Herobrine

Ok, so that concludes the new features added to 1.7, to start off the pistons were overdue. I'm glad that Notch has finally implemented them into the game as now we need one less mod to download. Pistons have always added a new dimension into the game in terms of objects that move, and traps and thus I am glad he has chosen to implement it.

I am also glad about the next feature, which only allows you to set off TNT by using redstone, or fire. Now a lot of people might find this rather silly and benign but I don't think so. For one, we've all had our fair share of messing with TNT and coincidentally setting it off. Well, getting fire is easy, just get flint and steel. It's not the hardest object to make, not to mention that TNT is used rarely by non-modders. So it's hardly a handicap, and the benefits outweigh the harm.

Fences can finally be stacked. This also makes life much easier in Minecraft considering, that in order to stack fences you would have to do the reverse. Which could be tedious... Stacking fences does no harm to the game... Thus I support it.

A new item was added to Minecraft, sheers, this item I believe will take some time to adapt to... We will all have to carry sheers with us to harvest wool, while I don't mind I can understand that it could be frustrating for any wool gatherers. Wool is rather tedious to collect as it is. Although a great benefit is now collecting leaf blocks. Although I don't understand if the principal of leaf blocks having to be by wood still applies. Regardless this is a very good patch. I am quite excited about it.

Tell me what you guys think.

Minecraft Video

This is a self made minecraft video explaining in full detail how to efficiently start off your day. It took me a while to make it even though it sucks... I would have added commentary but I don't have a mic.
